Base to Space

Base to Space

Base 2 Space is an annual fundraiser for Fred Hutch and Space Needle Foundation, see full descriptions of these fundraisers here. For event details, see the bottom of this message.  To stay up-to-date with the event join our slack channel #event-base2space .

Being that one of F3’s principals is free of charge this is by no means an obligation. However, this fundraiser is more than just an event—it’s a beacon of hope for countless individuals and families battling this relentless disease. By participating, you’re not only helping to raise vital funds for research and support services, but you’re also standing in solidarity with those affected.

As a cancer survivor I can honestly say the minute I learned I had this disease was one of the worst of my life, and don’t wish that burden upon anyone or their families. Below is an image my M took pre-surgery. It was the first time I’ve been operated on and decided to carry the strength that F3 has helped me build into the OR.
I hope that you’ll consider participating, whether through donations, deciding to do the climb, or simply spreading the word, all these actions make a significant impact. To help raise awareness and get the message out I’ve designed a special Beatdown.  If you’d like to Q it, DM me!  Let’s come together as a group and show that we are stronger than cancer. Together, we can bring hope, support, and life-saving change to those who need it most. Thank you for your consideration, support and generosity.

2024 Info

The registration, at the time of writing, is $90. There is a minimum fundraising requirement of $200. If the registrant does not raise the funds, they are responsible for the difference. I, (Silo) have created the F3 Puget Sound Team, so please join it. (Ping the me or the slack channel #event-base2space) Our group goal is $10,000.  A high target, but I know we can do it!

What: Climb the 832 stairs of the Space Needle and fundraise for Fred Hutch/Space Needle Foundation.
When: Sunday September 29, 2024. (Yes after IPC!)
Where: Space Needle in downtown Seattle, WA
Who: F3 PAX, M’s, and 2.0’s
Why: Please read above.
How to support: Consider a donation to the F3 Puget Sound team
How to register: See this link

If you are considering doing the climb you have two options. At the end I plan to meet up and have a post-event get together on the grounds or nearby.

a). More casually, but that’s too early: Which ever Wave works best for your M/2.0s.

b). To set a competitive time: Do the Wave A “Elite Wave” at 7:30 AM.

c). More casually: Do the Wave B at 8:00 AM.
