Here it is, the long awaited second edition of the 4×4 “Four by Four” CSAUP. The PAX rolled in slightly before 5AM. The sunrise was glorious. The dew was cold. The PAX did a short warmup before this show got underway.

WARMUP: Minimal at 4:55 before kicking off.

THE THANG: As hinted earlier we would be starting with a PNW creation. This Beatdown was a tribute to our PAX Burns who lost his M to pancreatic cancer after a battle of 571 days. This Beatdown consists of 571 reps. The “Mrs Burns” Beatdown consists of 5 rounds of the following. On the last round, run another 400M.

20 COUPON PRESSES
20 BURPEES
20 CURLS
20 V-UPS
20 GOBBLET SQUATS
13 MANMAKERS
400M RUN

The PAX started strong, those who did this Beatdown in 2022 week 3 remember it taking a bit of time. @Backdraft lost his shirt already. @MooseJaw eats burpees and manmakers for breakfast so this Beatdown was no issue for him, and he was on it picking up the Six. We lost @Flexo and @Salsa at this time to support Saturday AO’s in growing!

It was at this point that we met The Neighbor. He had informed us that he had an ‘agreement’ with the high school that only ‘teenagers’ can use the track and field. Since we were adults, we weren’t allowed there. @Hansel tried to calmly explain our purpose of being there, but it seemed there was no getting through. He stated the police would be called. The PAX gathered and agreed to remain on site.

Next up was Beatdown #2 from 2020 week 1. Another Beatdown where PAX must complete all reps (spoiler they all were). Inspectors Gadget also uses a EMOM (every minute on the minute) timer.  When the timer rings, do 3 burpees and continue on crushing the reps.

50 – HAND RELEASE MERKINS
100 – LEG LIFTS
150 – JUNGLE BOI SQUATS
200 – BIG BOY SIT-UPS
250 – STATIONARY LUNGE STEPS

It was during this Beatdown we met Robert, who works security for the high school. He was kind and listened to what we had to say and knew about The Neighbor. He also asked that we consider moving fields. PAX agreed we would finish up and then consider our options. However, at the end of the Beatdown PAX found a sign that states the field is open to the public and that if we had a group of 75+ we would need a permit. It has now been decided we would stay and see this out. LETS GO. After this Beatdown we also lost @Bueller who had to tend to a family emergency. Hard call to make, but the right one.

Next is an older Beatdown from 2019 week 4. PAX had to complete 3 rounds of the exercises below. Between each of the exercises the PAX must carry the coupon out 100 yards and back. The beauty of this Beatdown is that the exercises the PAX choice. They could do 50 Merkins and 50 Squats or 80/20, or any other form to get to 100 reps.

100 – MERKINS / SQUATS
100 – COUP. SWING / BONNIE BLAIR
100 – THRUSTERS / TRAVEL LUNGE

During this Beatdown the PAX of Doom (Bothell Landing Park) joined us. It was a welcome sight to see so many guys come and join in and encourage the 4×4 PAX. @Priceline being fully refreshed from a few hours of sleep joined the PAX at this time and blew us out of the water. The sun was getting higher and the PAX were starting to glisten. At the end of this Beatdown more PAX were shedding layers. The snacks, water, and Gatorade were flowing. Everyone was tired, but there was one Beatdown to go.

We saved the worst for last. Also hailing from 2019 week 2 is Meatloaf’s Massacre. This Beatdown consisted of 4 rounds and a running distance. Every round the exercises were the same and the running distance decreased. We had @Ferrari @Heeere’s Johnny and @Moneypuck join us for this last round of fun.

10 – MANMAKERS
20 – OVERHEAD PRESS
30 – COUPON SWINGS
40 – GOBLET SQUATS
50 – BLOCK MERKINS

RUN DISTANCES FOR EACH ROUND:
R1 – 1600 M (4 LAPS)
R2 – 1200 M (3 LAPS)
R3 – 800 M (2 LAPS)
R4 – 400 M (1 LAP)

And with that, it was over. The second rendition of the 4×4 CSAUP was complete. We had 5 PAX who had completed the 4×4 again and 8 PAX completing it for the first time.  CONGRATS to everyone who finished, this is no mean feat.  Not many F3 PAX would be able to finish this CSAUP.

COT: Took a moment to thank everyone for coming out and participating. A little more eventful than just doing the CSAUP, but we handled it well. PAX crushed it and hopefully had a great time pushing their selves beyond any limits you may have had going into the event.
