It was an honor to lead the men today…and as is so often the case…the rain deluge halted for us for one hour. So glad to have made it out this morning. Thanks to the PAX always.

Woodinville 04 05 18 – Burpees over Burpees

6 guys got after it this morning in Woodinville.

The PAX: SPAM, Salsa, Dunder, Mifflin, Hurley, Hollywood (Q)

The Thang:

Warmup with SSH, cotton-pickers, then arms of pain – little baby arm circles forward and back, bigger circles forward and back, seal claps, arm raises, pretzels, then back to circles forward and back. I felt those in my shoulders, elbows, and arm area. They burned.  Finish the warmup with squats and sumo-squats.  Good….mosey to front parking lot to begin the workout.

Red Barchetta (AP-style): SSH, Mtn. climbers, LBCs, Merkins, Burpees…and Jillian Michaels thrown in the end for fun.

Swedish mile up the gradual hill to the highest parking lot. (Hurley rocked this section – that guys an inspiration.)

Once at the top, we looked all the way down the stretch of parking lot…and hit lunge walks the entire way.  Followed by 50 SSH OYO, followed by high-knees all the way back…that was impossible…we all had to modify to skipping at the end. Followed by 20 squats OYO.  (Feeling our legs and hips by this point.)

Mosey down to the flags for 10-20-30: Box Jumps, Step-ups, Dips.

Then had SPAM help me pick odd or even…the choice was odd…so we did not do crab walks. What we did instead was a Double Jacobs Ladder…that’s up both sets of stairs rather than just the lower section…with Burpees at the top, and Burpees at the bottom.  (Salsa did some math during this pearl…I counted up to, too damn many burpees.)  This one rocked the group. It was awesome.

Slow mosey back around the school, down the salmon ladder to CoT and WoW…finishing up with one (1) flutter. Done and Done.

Next week: Salsa has the Q.

Cheers.

50 for MLK

12 men met in the gloom on an especially dark morning (no lights for LW school district’s spring break) made more so because it is the 50th anniversary of the murder of Martin Luther King Jr.  In memory of his incredible life that was taken away 50 years ago, we gave 50 reps our best efforts.

PAX: AP, Dig-Dug, Dunder, Gilligan, Spotlight, Jar-Jar, Simmons, Joystick, FSBO, Singlet, SPAM(Q).  Missing one…help me out.

Warm it up: Cotton pickers and Windmills

The Thang:

50 SSH OYO, 15 Burpees

50 Mountain Climbers OYO, 15 Burpees

50 Baby arm circles OYO, 15 Burpees

  • Derkins, box jumps, step-ups

  • Derkins, WW1’s, dips

  • (that’s 50  each)

Mosey to tennis courts.

Sumo-cides: out and back with 5-10-15-20 Sumo-squats at each court.

Repeato with Merkins, Squats, and LBCs

6MOM: 50 flutters IC, 50 seconds of Bro-tractor, done.

WOW: Joystick shared that he is glad to be back in the PNW and that F3 workouts bring an intensity and pay-off that solo exercise can’t match. True.

So much to glean from MLKs incredible life, and the gift he was/is to our country and our world.  The courage to do what scares you is particularly motivating for me.  MLK faced death threats daily, and one night in particular sat alone at his kitchen table, unable to sleep and paralyzed by fear for his life and the life of his family.  But he realized that night that he was not alone–for MLK, the presence of God was so real to him in that moment, that he never was afraid in the same way again.  His courage re-framed our history.  At F3 you are not alone either.  Be inspired to do the things that scare you–whether it is work or relationship, hit it just like you would here in the gloom.

Spreadsheets:

Joystick back from CA! Great to see you brother.

LIFOs galore today but it was too dark to figure out who all it was.

Cadence in warm-up was sabotaged early and often–I think it was Dig-Dug.

Suspicious lack of mumble-chatter for the rest of the workout.  Hopefully bc it was hard…

Some folks tried to stay dry during WWI’s by ducking under the overhang.  Thankfully tennis courts were one big puddle for LBCs at the end.  Bring a towel for your car seat.

Get after it today.

WOW
-Kojak reminded us MLK was killed today. At the time his popularity was not very high in America. A reminder when thinking about current trends, movements, etc., that opinions evolve with time and keep and open mind!

-Squid/Sun Devil as a no show this morning (and Gecko for being in Hawaii) you are tasked with 60 burpees to complete Monday’s millennial for us!

Also, need a Q for Seattle next Wednesday, Wooley Bugger will be out of town.

Still an OTB?

5 showed up to boxtrot and got better.

PAX: Schnitzel, Worthington, AP, Dig Dug, Xbox (Q)

2 miles north on the Sammamish River Trail and back. We averaged 9:39 a mile today with mile two being our fastest: 9:26.

We circled up, counted off and did nameorama. FSBO then showed for a post run ruck to hear AP define what a Ball-of-Man is supposed to look like: one man in center with hand up, the rest of the men come in and touch the shoulder of that man or one close to them.

Great to see 5 today. This OTB is near On-the-books with its consistency. Come on out and join us.

Three FNGs on the birthday. I’m walking around shop in my workout clothes and have wrestled up another easy 6 FNGs for next week… could grow fast.

Ball-of-Man with WoW: my wife gave me a hard time last evening saying I gave her an “emotional headlock (her words)” when I told her one of my super powers was her cooking: attempting to encourage with my gratitude. We had a rough night with the kids and she was tired, so all she heard was “so you want me to cook for you every night!!!!!!” Given fatigue it overwhelmed her. The wisdom lies in my non-defensive response, even though I steamed internally. She IS absolutely appreciative of my encouragement, but because of her abnormal fatigue state, it had a negative affect. When you get an unusual response from someone, not steam like I did, but instead look at the situation to understand what might be affecting the person, causing them to react that way.

Lots of opportunity here gentlemen…come join the fun…and as always, thank you for the opportunity to lead. Peace!

Down to Four

Defiance was five strong this morning. Lunger, DDT and Flipper met at 0530 to ruck through the park. Frenchy and Garfield met us at 0700 to start the workout. Flipper needed to leave so there were four for the workout.

The Thang

Meanwhile Partner 2 starts on 50 burpees
Partners trade until the 50 is completed.
Then it’s 100 overhead hand claps, 150 pushups, 200 situps and 250 squats. Oh, that last one burns.

Then it’s four stations: flutters, Capitals, sandbag curls and sandbag sumo dead squats. 10 reps, 3 rounds. Bear crawl, crab walk or broad jump between stations.

Workout complete

WoW:
The fellowship of this group is vital and keeps us motivated and encourages us to be here each workout.

Breakfast at Cole’s. The French toast special looked excellent.

• I want to make sure budget is not a reason for anyone not to come, so I would welcome any families that want to camp they would be welcome to camp in my yard. The only caveat is my wife would be concerned if they have small children since we have a pool. We do have one guest room and a basement if a family with littles want that. I also made sure almost all the events are fee with exception of the wine tour/dinner.
