Defiance visits Wright Park

Defiance came to Wright Park for a workout that made men better.

PAX: Frenchy, Lunger (Q), Chief!, Bivvie, DDT, Smelter and FNG Matlock

After warmups from Frenchy everyone grabbed a weight of some sort – sandbags, a bag of battle rope or a 30# slam ball. Run the perimeter of the park with the coupons stopping along the way to do stuff like pull-ups, dips, situps, bear crawl up a hill and dragging the sandbag.

Finished with sprints, bear crawls and duck walk on the baseballba court.

A little merlot was splashed.

Lunger gave a history lesson about the park during the workout. #historyiscool.

Breakfast at Hob Nob. Good work men!

Words:

Thinking about the celebrities who supposedly “had it all” yet took their own life, recently.

One main thing to realize is that F3 is a community which will support you, lift you up if you need it. You only have to ask.

A Cluster F of a Backblast

Log Boom Park 6/8/2018

PAX:  FNG Topknot, 5th Wheel, Guero, Dry Dock, SPAM, 529, Narwhal, Seabass, LaFleur, Hurley, Worthington, Dunder and Mifflin, FSBO, Magic, 7-Layer, Olaf, Salsa and MASH

Q:  Gekko

The Brute Bag made its maiden voyage at Log Boom Park today.  Moving forward the Brute Bag will be known as Steve-O (long story/you had to be there).

Here comes the cluster F part of this Backblast…..there was constant motion and switching of teams and pairs = pretty hard to capture everything without the help of a courtroom stenographer.

See some late PAX straggling in = punctual PAX immediately begin to job in a direction away from the stragglers, and then retreat back to home base.

CoP:  SSH, mountain climbers and merkins.

Introduce the Brute Bag, and the overall layout for the workout was this:  1 PAX does 10 reps on the Brute Bag, 2 PAX do an AMRAP exercise, and 1 PAX does AMRAP exercise.  Rotate through your group while the rest of the group runs an out and back.

Brute Bag exercises:  bent over lateral rows, bear hug squats, hip extension squat thrusters, curls, bear crawl pushes.

Exercises for other team members:  sumo squats, merkins, diamond merkins, flutters and squats.

Entire PAX:  line up shoulder to shoulder and hold a squat.  Pass the bag from one end to the other, and once you pass it you complete 5 burpees.

Partner up:  P1 does ab exercises hanging off of the wall while P2 holds feet.  Flapjack x 3

3MoM:  circle up and begin doing 4-count flutters while the bag gets passed around the entire circle.  72 reps

Announcements

*Normal Saturday workout schedule for 6/9:  Bellevue, KiMS, Heritage Park, Gas Works at Point Defiance at 7AM.

*6/16 at 9AM:  2.0 (kids) workout – boys and girls welcome.  2.0 workouts are really for your M (wife!).  Get the hooligans out of the house and tire them out!  (Blatant self-interest:  the more you do this = the more guilt-free F3 workouts you get to hit IMHO.)

*6/22-24:  Worthington Weekend Family Extravaganza in Richland

*6/30:  Base 2 Space up the Space Needle.  Talk to Grissom for more details.

*10/19:  GoRuck Custom Tough event for just our F3 group.  Sounding like you will want to be one of the first 35 PAX to pay for this…..talk to Buckeye.

WoW:  Have an environment where you feel safe saying, “Taddah!  Look at how awesome I have been….”  F3 can be that group for you.  Looking around our CoT you see numerous success stories on the physical fitness/health/weight loss side of things, and you also see guys who have made impressive strides in a short period of time on family, relationships and personal development.  At home encourage your kids and spouse/SO to feel safe to step up and own their success.  Many in our society are eager to step up and own failures, but attribute success to “luck” – MAKE them own their success and know that they have a safe place to own (~almost brag!) their recent wins.

Other “noise”:

*Salsa estimating that the Brute Bag/Steve-O weighs in at only 40 lbs makes me think that his internal scale is off…….or I am much weaker than I think…..

*Some planking was done on our finger tips (AKA – PYS for your fingers.  Cue Hollywood saying, “It must be easy…..cuz it’s only exercising your fingers.”)

*Guero shot out of the cannon on the first running legs in the parking lot!

*YES – 72 flutter kicks was the last exercise.  Some guys (LAFLEUR!!!) did not seem to want to pass the Brute Bag.

*Dunder and Mifflin said that the partner ab work we did should now be called “Brokeback”…..

Go DOMINATE today!!!!

Return of the Quicksand Gun Show

Sun’s out, Guns out

PAX: Hollywood, Salsa, Worthington, Dry Dock, Hurley, Goats, Spam, Brady, and Xbox (Q)

Warmup: Run around the field, 10 IC Good Mornings, Windmills, Cotton Pickers, Merkins, and 15 IC Arm circles to include flapjack.

Thang:

4 Corners. Home 25 LBCs, visitor Burpees AMRAP; YHC decided to switch up the order, so we ran the corners 3, 1, 4, 2; with 2 being in the far corner, it lead to the salmon ladder. 😋

Salmon Ladder up: increments of 2 Diamond Merkins per level, all flat travel done with walking lunges; pickup 6 once done.

Salmon Ladder down: Starting at 16, down by 2 on each level: Sumo Squats; all flat travel, reverse lunges; pickup 6.

Head to track. YHC started with the idea 5-10-15-20 repititions of Jillian Michaels at each corner, but after corner 2, switched to 5-10-10-5.

One more time with Carolina Dry Docks, but we stuck with the count 5-10-15-20.

Headed back to the field to do Abs in the reverse order of the corners we did at the beginning: 20 LBCs, 10 World War IIIs, 20 American Hammers, and YHC forgot what the fourth corner was.

Spotlight loves running backwards, so we ran the corners backwards at the end as well.

On the second round of AMRAP burpees, Salsa found it appropriate to pace the speed… which allowed YHC to keep up.

Spam did not let me run slow on the laps around the track. Grrrr. Love you man.

Brady helped count cadence during warmup.

Glad to have you back Worthington!!! Thanks for the good words from the Star Course. Encouraging.

I always get better hanging out with Goats and Hurley. Great attitude and hard workers! Get at it men.

Great location Hollywood. Thanks for being an awesome Site Q. I’m working on some men to help build it up…the long, slow EH.

YHC provided WoW: attention management. Don’t let electronics grab your attention. Set time aside to give important things sole attention.

Thank you for letting me lead you men. Have a great week. Get at it and earn that Redwoods patch tomorrow and Saturday.

WoW:

Talent reminded us of Passport’s FB post yesterday. He is going through some difficult times. Many have already reached out immediately upon seeing his message. F3 is there for him – just like it is for all of us. It’s easy to take that fact for granted when things are going well. Remember that this group genuinely wants to help anyone who is in need. Anytime.

Pax: Dialup, Xbox, Thriftshop, FSBO, schnitzel,Giftbox, Jermaine, Icky, Dilfer, Spotlight(VQ)

10 HIM’s dared to get better even though unusually it was wet and cold. I largely blame the sprinklers than the rain. 🙂

Mosey to the other end of the parking lot, Divided into 5 teams of 2 members each. Each team called(Superman/Squats/..) out an exercise for rest of the teams and they complete a run around the parking lot. (Bonding time).

Swedish mile in the parking lot, last person completes 5 burpees before joining the head of the line, everyone completed their chance except me. (Icky and Dilfer modified and did various other exercises)

Mosey to “the hill” – Lunging to the top of the hill, back to the bottom of the hill by break crawling. (Repeato) – Mumblechatter – Icky thought I would skip the hill based on my comment but I was determined to add it to the mix.

VQ words: Shared a quote from the book I completed reading in 2 days(30day goal improvement). “Effort does not guarantee success but it only removes guarantee of failure” – Essentially the point is that if you have not tried it then you have quit before joined the race. I thank F3 and I keep trying so that I get better every-time. – Live, Learn and evolve.

Thank you men for giving the opportunity to lead today, this is my first VQ. I will work on my cadence a bit and you will see a new improved me next time! Have a good rest of the day!

I’ve been with F3 going on 2 years, thanks to an invitation from Rivet. I can honestly say it’s helped me grow in many ways, especially leadership.  Q’ing has brought me the confidence to recently coach my daughter’s b-ball team, something I’ve never done before.   F3 is indeed a great gift, the rewards of which are  many fold. Thank you for allowing me to lead.

Get after it, gentlemen.
